L’Eroica Britannia – Bakewell, Derbyshire
A couple of weeks ago CycleMiles headed off to beautiful Bakewell in Derbyshire for the inaugural L’Eroica Britannia. Simply put, it was fantastic and should be on every cycle enthusiasts bucket list.
We had a great, albeit exhausting time, with the brand spanking new CycleMiles ‘Tent of Temptation’ being open from 9am to 9pm, showing and selling a selection of our art, books and gifts. We were very very busy.
Overall highlights?
The attention to detail the organisers and L’Eroica cyclists put into the event was amazing. The bars, food stalls, music, films, performers, shopping village were just fabulous. It was just so brilliant to be there, with so many enthusiastic cyclists on great bicycles.
Personal highlights?
Best of all, meeting lots of our lovely customers and the lovely people behind brands we currently show and sell, and new brands we’ll soon be showing and selling. However, meeting Giancarlo Brocci, founder of L’Eroica in Italy and having him sign a copy of Coppi by Herbie Sykes has to be up there too. Result! Plus, meeting Andrea Meneghelli, Director of Brooks and being asked to give new Brooks London store a call about CycleMiles. That was flattering. Meeting fabio from Aro27 Bike Cafe in Brazil and his two friends, who had come all the way from Brazil and on arrival in the U.K. bought three Pashley Guvnor’s to ride at L’Eroica, was great too. Respect!
Lowlights?
L’Eroica festival loos and showers. Better, more of them next year we so hope.
Here are a few of our photos. The sky is cloudy, but in fact it was baking hot and very very sunny.
