The Full Cycle – Vin Denson Biography

The Full Cycle – Vin Denson Biography – Back in print

CycleMiles has been going along to the fabulous Mildenhall Cycling Rally for the past two years and we think it’s fantastic. Whilst we’ve been there, we’ve had the pleasure and honour of meeting Vin Denson.

Vin is one of the original British racing cyclists from the 60’s, who headed off to the continent to make their fortune. He rode with and against the very best riders of his era, Jacques Anquetil, Tom Simpson, Rik Van Looy, Shay Elliott, Jean Stablinski, Barry Hoban. He was riding the Tour de France on Mt. Ventoux, on that infamous day when Tom Simpson collapsed and died. Vin has an amazing story to tell.

The Full Cycle, Vin Denson’s Biography was first published by the fantastic Mousehold Press in 2008 and has been reprinted twice  in 2009 and 2010. But it looked like it was going out of print. After speaking with Vin at Mildenhall and Adrian Bell, owner of Mousehold Press, The Full Cycle – Vin Denson’s biography is now back in print in association with CycleMiles.

The 2014 edition has a fabulous new cover photo of Vin making an attack on Stage 15 of the 1966 Tour de France, heading towards Bourg d’Oisans. Vin was riding for Master Jacques and this attack was a ‘suicide job’ in support of Anquetil.

So, if you want to know more about what it was like to be a professional racing cyclist in the 60’s, including ‘bar raids’ during the Tour de France! The Full Cycle is a fantastic read.
